Pandanus - not a palm tree, but also come down
Pandanus (Pandanus, fam. The leaves of the pandanus are gracefully curved, xiphoid, with a serrated edge, linear, dark green, reach a length of 1 m, resemble dracaena leaves. With age, the lower leaves fall off and scars remain in their place, due to which the trunk seems to be spirally twisted. The plant forms powerful stilted roots that serve as an additional support. They should not be removed. Pandanus blooms with small yellow flowers collected in dense inflorescences. The plant looks great both in a single arrangement and in a group as a solitary plant .

Young specimens are transplanted up to 7 years every spring, subsequently - every 2 to 3 years. For transplantation, a soil substrate is used, consisting of greenhouse and turf land, peat and sand in a ratio of 2: 1: 1: 1.
Pandanus is propagated by root offspring, which are separated from the mother plant upon reaching 10 cm in length. Propagation is also carried out by seeds and stem cuttings.
Of the pests, pandanus is most often affected by scale insects. In this case, immovable brown formations similar to scales and sticky insect secretions can be found on the leaves and stalk. A diseased plant should be treated with malathion or actellik.
