Garden care in the fall
In September, after harvesting, fishing belts are removed and burned or, having destroyed pests in them (boiled), they are stored for use the next year.
They collect all damaged, rotten, crushed fruits and take them out of the garden and destroy or use them for household needs.
The props are taken out of the garden, and the gaskets from the fork, which prevented damage to the branches, are collected and burned to destroy the caterpillars of the codling moth that gather in them. For the same purpose, the remains of containers, etc., are collected and burned.

In October, a survey of garden plantings for pest infestation is carried out. To do this, counting trees are distinguished on the diagonal of the garden or quarter, inspect them and determine the number of wintering nests of hawthorn and goldfish, egg laying of unpaired and ringed silkworms, the degree of infection with scabies, ticks, wood borers and the like.
Cut and burn shoots and thin branches damaged by caterpillars of woodworms.
Young trees are tied with stalks of sunflower, reeds or other materials against hares.
The fruits in the garden are already harvested. Now it remains to completely rake the leaves and burn, because they have a lot of egg-laying pests.
It is very useful to dig up the soil near the trees so as not to damage the roots - by 10-12 cm, and already at a distance of a meter and a half from the trunk you can go deep into the whole shovel.
Digging, you will fertilize. Mineral, in particular, in such doses: 100-120 g under a tree of superphosphate, 50-60 g each - nitrogen and potassium. But the best fertilizers, of course, are organic. For six hundred parts, 2-2.5 tons of humus is enough.
And one more thing: look at the trees well. Collect all the caterpillar nests on them and burn them. It is also useful to free the trunks from the old bark and burn it, since pests also hid under it for the winter.
You could also whiten the trees, if you do not have time, then by all means do it in the early spring, even at the end of February. This will protect them from sunburn. But watering the garden right now is very useful - its winter hardiness will increase.
In November and December, the dead bark is cleaned and burned on trunks and thick branches, after which the trees are whitened with slaked lime to protect the bark from frost and sunburn.
Remove from the trees and burn the winter nests of hawthorn, goldfish, as well as mummified fruits. Destroy oviposition of unpaired silkworms on trunks and thick branches by lubricating them with kerosene or oil.
In December, on the basis of the survey of gardens and observations of the development of pests and diseases during the growing season, they draw up a plan for combating them for the next year.
