Potato pie with minced meat - a variation on the theme of the traditional shepherd’s pie, which is often, in simple terms, called a potato casserole. The cake is very easy to prepare. Its basis is minced meat fried with vegetables. It is covered in mashed potatoes with butter and green onions. All this splendor is baked in the oven until golden brown, it turns out very tasty!
A traditional shepherd’s pie is prepared with lamb and vegetables, in Britain it is called ‘shepherds pie ’, and word Shepherd means "sheep shepherd" (and not cow or any other). A pie with beef or minced meat is called a rustic pie, it is also a cottage pie. By the way, you can cook a vegetarian version, replacing the meat with soy or tofu, this dish is called "Shepherd's Pie."

Minced Potato Pie Ingredients
- 450 g of minced meat;
- 600 g of potatoes;
- 50 g butter;
- 120 g of red onion;
- 50 g of green onions;
- 50 g celery;
- 150 g of vegetable hodgepodge;
- 60 g of tomato puree;
- 1 chili pepper;
- 30 g parmesan;
- 20 g of peeled sunflower seeds;
- frying oil, salt, pepper, oregano.
Method for making potato pie with minced meat
Cut red onion into thin half rings. We cut celery stalks across small cubes. Pour a couple of tablespoons of refined frying oil into the pan, throw red onion and celery, fry for several minutes.
Add minced meat to vegetables, knead with a spatula so that it does not stick together. Fry the minced meat for 15 minutes.
For the recipe for potato pie, any minced meat is suitable, you can take chicken, and you get a lighter version of the dish.
Next, add a vegetable hodgepodge to the pan. This can be any set of vegetables, for example, lecho of red pepper, stew from zucchini or eggplant.
All together, salt and pepper, mix, add tomato puree and cook on low heat for another 20 minutes.
Boil the potatoes in their skins, peel them. Knead the potatoes, add the butter and finely chopped green onion. Mix thoroughly, salt to taste.
Lubricate the refractory form with oil, spread the fried minced meat with vegetables, distribute evenly. You need to choose a thick-walled form with high sides, the ideal option is a cast-iron frying pan.
We put mashed potatoes with onions on the minced meat, crush. We make a pattern with a fork. Chilli pod cut in half, put on mashed potatoes.
Sprinkle potato pie with minced meat grated Parmesan, sunflower seeds and oregano. We heat the oven to a temperature of 185 degrees Celsius. We put the form in a preheated oven.
