We grow black pepper
I have a corner in my apartment, it costs nothing, and I dream that a plant would grow there, but since the corner is far from the window, there is not much sun. And I wondered what to put in there, and imagine my amazement and delight when I discovered that pepper would grow very well in this place, no, not capsicum, but ordinary black pepper.
Black pepper (Piper nigrum) - perennial climbing plant, species of the genus Pepper (Piper) of the Pepper family (Piperaceae) The common names of some species of plants of the Kapsikum genus (Capsicum) Solanaceae family: vegetable pepper (paprika, bell pepper), red pepper and others, have nothing to do with black pepper and the Pepper family in general.
Black pepper is a large vine growing in India, which forms a powerful and dense bush with simple, shiny leaves and small, inconspicuous, individually located flowers collected in cobs.
Black pepper fruits form cobs up to 14 cm long with rounded drupes of diameters up to 5 mm. But unfortunately, in the fruiting apartment without special care and backlight not to achieve. So, usually, black pepper at room conditions is grown as an ornamental and deciduous plant.
Black pepper care
Vines of black pepper cling to their subordinate roots, with which they also absorb water from the air, so the plant needs frequent watering and spraying in the summer, moderate in winter.
By the light, as I mentioned, black pepper is not picky. Black pepper prefers a bright place, but not direct sunlight, tolerates shade and partial shade perfectly.
Black pepper propagates by cuttings and layering in the spring.
Using black pepper
The plant is cultivated in tropical countries for the sake of the fruit, from which, through various processing, spices such as black pepper, white pepper, green pepper and pink pepper are obtained. These spices are used both in ground form and in peas.
