In the genus of pittosporum, about 150 plant species. On the Black Sea coast, in Sochi, pittosporum grows in open ground.
Evergreen shrub, leaves, whole or toothed, leathery, 10-15 cm long, sometimes whorled in the upper part of the shoots. The flowers are small (diameter up to 1.2 cm), collected in inflorescences or single, white or cream color, with a wonderful aroma. Blossom all spring.
Accommodation. He likes sunny places, but grows well in partial shade. In the summer, it is advisable to take out the pittosporum outdoors. In winter, the room temperature should not be lower than 7 - 10 ° C.
Care. During the growing season (April - October), abundant watering is required, in the winter - moderate, water with a low content of lime. The earthball should be wet. In warm weather, the plant should be sprayed. Twice a month, it is fed with complex mineral fertilizers. Adult plants are transplanted once every 2 to 3 years.
Pests and diseases. The main pests are Japanese wax pseudoscutis and bay leaves, thrips. As a result of improper care, fusarium and various spotting appear on the plant.
